What is hogs back ridge?

Hogs Back Ridge is a narrow, 2.5-kilometer-long ridge that runs between Guildford and Farnham in Surrey, England. It is a geological formation formed by the chalk beds of the North Downs. The ridge is about 70 meters high at its highest point and provides a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside.

Hogs Back Ridge is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including wildflowers, butterflies, and birds. It is also the location of several Bronze Age barrows and other archaeological sites. In recent times, the ridge has become a popular location for walking, cycling, and hiking, offering panoramic views across the Surrey landscape.

The ridge is crossed by the A31 road, which runs along the top of the ridge and has become a major thoroughfare for traffic traveling between Guildford and Farnham. In 2018, a project was launched to create a new cycle route on the ridge, which is set to enhance the accessibility of the area for cyclists and walkers alike.
